SOLUTIONS NOT POLITICS

Without immediate Campaign Finance Reform, we will not see urgent reforms on climate change, housing, or healthcare. As long as big pharma, fossil fuels, and big timber can donate unlimited amounts of cash to candidates, nothing will really change.

MEET

Patrick Starnes

Patrick Starnes is one of the foremost champions for campaign finance reform (CFR) in Oregon. He made CFR a core issue in the 2018 Gubernatorial Election and later lobbied the Oregon Legislature to refer a constitutional amendment to the ballot. The amendment,  which went on to pass with a 78% yes vote, opened the door for the Oregon legislature to create campaign finance limits. Patrick Starnes has the expertise, relationships, and dedication it takes to put an end to unlimited money in our elections.

Why run as a Democrat for Governor?

Events over the past two years, including the January 6th storming of the U.S. Capitol and the Biden administration’s canceling of the Keystone XL pipeline, leave no doubt in my mind as to who is fighting for what is right. I was proud to carry the banner for the Independent Party of Oregon in the 2018 Governor’s race, however, recent events have struck a chord strongly enough that I have changed my party registration to become a proud Democrat again.

Ending big money in politics requires people poweR

I admittedly am not a self-funded multimillionaire or the darling of anyone’s rich Uncle Phil. Instead, I am a humble family man who rehabs old homes for a living who has recognized and taken action on a major flaw in our political system. That flaw is causing catastrophic problems for our planet, making health care insanely expensive, and leaving our most vulnerable in the dust. That flaw is unlimited money in Oregon politics.

Ending the Housing Crisis

Housing the homeless is a moral imperative that will take bold leadership and ideas. That is why I have proposed the creation of the Oregon Shelter Fund to help provide homes to those experiencing homelessness. The fund would be supported by a Vacancy Tax on unused housing supply.

VOLUNTEER FOR Patrick Starnes

AS THE ONLY CANDIDATE IN THE RACE WHO HAS PLEDGED TO ENACT CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM IN THE FIRST 100 DAYS IN OFFICE, I will not have the support of the political establishment. Instead, my campaign will rely on people power: volunteers, small donors, and the energy and support of everyday folks like myself. Please let us know if you can chip in. We need collective community support to win. That starts with you.
